How to create an easy, last minute Easter tablescape

This year I’m keeping things very low key when it comes to decorating for Easter. No doubt this is due to the fact that I can’t quite face the reality that it’s April already, didn’t we just pack away the Christmas tree? So if you’re feeling like me & are in need of some last minute Easter inspiration, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are some easy to follow tips & DIY ideas to help you create a beautiful, fun table setting for your family & guests, of all ages, to enjoy this holiday.

Table Runner

To set the scene for the fun, whimsical theme I wanted to create, I purchased a strip of artificial turf from Bunnings to use as a table runner, a bargain at only $5.00.

DIY Easter Tree Centrepiece

Using a tree branch, a vase & some decorative white & gold hanging eggs from Bed, Bath & Table, Ava, my 11 year old daughter & I created a simple, yet beautiful centrepiece for the table.

Tip – choose a branch that has plenty of stems to hang your eggs from.

An Easter Treat

No Easter table would be complete without some Chocolate, right?

For each place setting I made small gift jars that also double as place cards. I added some white shredded paper, a handful of small Cadbury’s Easter Eggs & a cute Morgan & Finch Fuzzy Bunny to a medium sized mason jar & I finished each one with a personalised black name tag tied with twine.

Tip – chalkboard stick on label’s also look great on jars

Easy as Pie Cake Hack

If you follow me on Instagram you would know I’m an absolute train wreck in the cooking department, thankfully over the years I have learnt to “fake it” & get a little creative in the kitchen by decorating a pre made…….dare I say it, shop brought, naked cake. I promise, no one will know the difference!

What I used to decorate the cake –

Simply ice the cake, using the butter creme icing & add your Chocolate decorations in a pattern. I cascaded the chocolates down one side.

Tip – use any left over icing as a ‘glue’ to stick the chocolates together so they stay in place.

Complete the Look

There are so many fun creative ways to complete the finishing touches to a table setting like this. You could add some potted colour in small pots along the table runner, fill various sized glass vases with Eggs, or even use mix matched dinnerware to add to the whimsical theme. I decided to use small black bowls filled with speckled eggs, martini glasses with small chocolate eggs gently knocked over, some greenery from the garden & then added some extra fuzzy bunnies & decorative eggs to complete the look.
